One and Many
The Tonlogos on One and Many
The Presentation of the Tonlogos on One and Many
One is many and many is one. [
Three Questions concerning One
1. Are there ones?
2. How is each one stably one?
3. How does each one become one and many?
The Explanation of the Tonlogos on One and Many
The Statements on Logos and One and Many
It is through logos that one is and that one and many become the same. Beings said to be are from one and many and have co-born limit and un-limitedness in themselves.
Division and Dialectics of One and ManyThe method of division (dihairesis): Supposing one, dividing it into many, repeating the procedure, until discovering the one being looked for.
The method of dialectics (dialektike): Supposing one, finding number, repeating the procedure, until seeing that one is one, many and unlimited, and how many.
The method of division belongs to the method of dialectics.
The Connection of One and Many
According to the method of division, the connection (koinonia) of one and many is that of genus (genos) and species.
According to the method of dialectics, the connection (koinonia) of one and many is that of whole and part.
Genus and species are kind of whole and part.
按區分法,一多之連結為[種類]之連結;
