Examination : Good & Bad

The examination system becomes a main theme of the modern education. People have to take and pass the exam before they go to school or graduation. People make much criticism to its rationality, as the examination system is an important role in education. Some people have praised this exam system to great extend, another have agreed to abolish the system. But I have supported to oppose the examination system.

Firstly, I agree that they may be an effective way to test students’ knowledge. If student don’t study hard, they won’t pass their exams possibly. However a few questions in test paper don’t possibly cover all kinds of subject knowledge. Some students who are able to answer them may be a poor because they only know about that. Obviously, the examinations can’t reflect actually their subject knowledge and ability.

Secondly, I admit that teachers can through the exam to force student to study. Some students do study when their exam is coming. But they have studied in the short period of time and recited from memory hardly. When the exam is over, they forgot the subject knowledge that they studied. This is a great waste of time and energy.

Finally, I agree that the examination system can encourage a competition. Many students study hard in order to get high marks because the high marks mean the great honour and success. However the desire to seek this purpose may tempt them to cheat in the examination system. In fact, this behavior often occurs under the nose of their teachers. Some students think that there is no matter with cheating. On the meaningful, the exam can make damage our moral standards. Therefore, I determined that abolish the examination system.
